Do you have an acronym that best represents your philosophy in life? Did your grandmother pass on a saying that you frequently repeat? Is there something that you regularly say to others that reflects your deepest thinking? Is your saying or acronym positive and forward-looking? Does this matter?
The answer to all of these questions is a resounding yes for me. I love sayings! I love acronyms! The most important one in my life was developed from the lessons I learned in a baseball game at age ten. It is the subject of my new book, The BET.
BET stands for Belief, Enthusiasm and Team. It is my template for living a daily successful life. Each word is backed up by successful stories in my own life that made a huge difference. There is personal motivation behind each word. Relying on repetition and a strong commitment, I have utilized my formula for success over a long period of time.
What is your personal philosophy for daily success? Do you have one? Is it important in the results that you achieve each day?
Single Day Success. Learn to succeed in just one single day. Concentrate on small bites. Make today a great day. Create “My Successful Daily Blueprint”. Figure out the components that combined give you the best chance at success each day. Take these elements and develop your own success statement. The key is creating one that works for you.
I strongly suggest using acronyms and sayings to formalize your blueprint. It’s ok if you borrow from your grandmother or from others in your life that you admire. Developing and utilizing a successful acronym, as I have (The BET), will unleash incredible power. I get up each day with a commitment to using my own personal daily formula for success. It is now part of my DNA, at the very core of everything I do. I cannot forget my formula, even for one single day, because it is so easy to remember (only three letters). And, it works in powerful ways because I have repeated it so often that it now is ingrained in all I do each day.
But, how do you sustain this single day philosophy day after day for an entire week? What about a month? Who could ever handle a whole year?
In “Small Steps”, I write about the surprising power of the progress principle. The best indicator for having a successful day is simply making any progress, even if it is small in comparison to the entire project. This same daily philosophy can be applied to a weekly mentality. And yes, before long, we can begin to think of a lengthier picture in the form of months and years. Long-term outstanding success in its simplest form is daily success repeated again and again.
What is your daily formula for success? Do you have one? If so, write it down. If not, start today on creating one. Make it simple so that you can always remember it. When you wake up each morning, remind yourself of your own pattern for outstanding performance. Repeat it to yourself – out loud. Evaluate your recipe at the end of each day. Modify your plan based on your own audit. Finalize what works for you. Repeat it the rest of your life.
Act – Evaluate – Modify – Finalize – Repeat
In its simplest form, success is repeating what works. Find a formula that works for you. Repeat it daily.
A successful life is a succession of prosperous years.
A successful year is twelve effective months.
A successful month is four successful weeks.
A successful week is . . .
A successful day is . . .
My successful life depends on the answer to one simple question.
